In this article, we'll show you how to modify a Rugged firearm for accuracy and performance.

  • Step 1: Extract the Barrel from the Action Get ready to remove the barrel from the action. Take a screwdriver and insert it into one of the holes on the side of the receiver. This will allow you to pop off that portion of your firearm.

  • Step 2: Remove Magazine Catch Place a small punch in between that area where you just removed it, and pry outwards with a screwdriver or similar tool. You should be able to get enough leverage to remove it without having to actually use any tools at all. Once you've done this, you can pull it out.

  • Step 3: Remove Bolt Carrier & Charging Handle If you have an AR-15 carbine, then take out your manual and locate your bolt carrier. It will be located on top of the gun, with a small spring that is holding it in place.

  • Step 4: Remove Trigger Group The trigger group is what connects everything together, so it's important (after taking out all the parts above) to clean things up so that you don't damage anything. First, take off the dust cover on your lower. Locate the three pins that hold it in place.

These are where you'll push them out from the rear once you've removed them from below (see above). Once you have done this, you should be able to lift up the trigger group and pull it straight out.
