How Much Moisturizer Should You Apply?

When you get a new tattoo, your skin becomes sensitive as it heals from needle-stick trauma. One important factor that speeds up the healing process is to moisturize your tattoo regularly.

New ink must be kept moist so it does not break and run. How often should you moisturize your new tattoo? Usually, it is recommended that you apply daily moisturizer on your tattoo 2-3 times a day, that is, every 8 to 12 hours a day. However, the humidification process is personal for each individual.

It is generally accepted that on average, it is recommended to moisten the area about 2-3 times a day. Proper hydration creates a thin membrane to protect your tattoo, create new skin cells, and heal your tattoo. This way we prevent the new, tattooed skin from drying out, which can ruin our artwork.

Some areas of the skin dry out faster than others, so the frequency with which you use lotion or conditioner for treating your new tattoo varies from person to person. Your tattoo is like an open wound and will dry out over time, but don't get too hot to prevent it from drying out.

Excessive hydration or inadequate hydration can damage your skin. Avoid this type of scab by properly washing and hydrating your tattoo.
